Der Bargain Korner

Here we list our bargain or discounted main theme items that you may find interesting. Slight imperfections, maybe a little damage or wear when we obtained Sale Tagsthem. The items herein none-the-less still have collectible value and are just too nice not to show you.

Additionally, although as we specialize in Bavarian and Austrian porcelain, occasionally we obtain unique pieces of different manufacture from other locations or countries. They are either unusual, rare, or have historical significance. In this section we also offer these for your examination. Please have a look!

Zdekauer Art Nouveau Cup & Saucer

Item #:
mza491
mza491a-500.jpg

An unusual cup and saucer combination in an apparent Art Nouveau design format from the Moritz Zdekauer, Altrohlau, Austria factory (now Stará Role in the Czech Republic). The rich gold fields and decorative highlighting with what looks like flowers, are descriptive of the nouveau period movement. This piece dates between 1891 and 1917 but more likely prior to 1909 as the C.M. Hutschenreuter "CMHR" are absent in the mark as they acquired the company in that year and began to identify some porcelains in that manner. If not rare this item is in the least unusual for an MZ work and is highly collectible. Note that there is a small chip on the cup rim near the handle but no other defect is noted.

Royal Bayreuth Creamer

Item #:
rb492
rb492a-500.jpg

A very nice Royal Bayreuth creamer dating from 1902 to 1930 likely from the Königlich privilegierte Porzellanmanufaktur Tettau, Sontag & Söhne prior to 1915, but perhaps from the sons' Geiersthal decorative studio in Thuringia. This piece stands 3.5" tall and is 3" across. There is some wear to the underside of the feet and the left side of the spout on the outer lip shows a nick or small chip that has been colored over. Over all it is still in very good condition and would augment any collection.

Zeh-Sherzer Condiment Dish

Item #:
zsb493
zsb493a-500.jpg

A 6" diameter handled condiment/candy dish from Zeh-Sherzer and company, Rehau, Bavaria. This late Victorian item dates from 1880 to 1899. Their fine quality reflects the interest in the upcoming art deco movement and in continuing the production of fine household items for the export market. The pictures of this item show four small buffed areas likely attributed to the manufacturing process and are only noticeable at certain angles. These areas in no way detract from it's collectibility and remains a nice addition for your corner cupboard display case.
